As a member of our Retail Sales team, reporting to the Director, Member Services, your main objective will be to help our members achieve financial comfort by developing a sound financial plan to effectively manage their income, expenses, assets and liabilities in order to meet their short, medium and long-term financial objectives, ultimately allowing them to make sound and informed decisions. In addition, the Financial Services Representative (FSR) is required to market our products and services in accordance with our clearly defined policies and procedures. This position is expected to promote, up-sell and cross-sell our full line of lending and investment vehicles, with a focus on consumer loans, mortgages, lines of credit, deposit and investment vehicles and various services.


  • Develop financial plans based on recommendations for the achievement of the member’s specific objectives
  • Ongoing monitoring and modification of plans so that they continue to meet member needs
  • Follow a structured framework, which enables members to make informed financial decisions
  • Actively pursue member business through call lists to ensure members use all of our products and services
  • Approve loans, mortgages and lines of credit within discretionary limits and/or make approval/denial recommendations to the Credit Manager/Director of Member Services/Credit Management Committee
  • Prepare credit applications and ensure that instructions outlining credit terms are clearly set out on a checklist for appropriate documentation associated with credit, sale of savings and investment products
  • Make the necessary inputs to the banking system to set up credit and investment products
  • Perform annual reviews of lines of credit, mortgages and investments to be renewed and contact members
  • Follow up on delinquent accounts and maintain systematic collection procedures for early identification of problematic accounts and initiate or recommend appropriate action to minimize risk
  • Responsible for making qualified referrals to the Wealth Management department by spotting opportunities through inquiries or conversations with members
  • Promote, sell, sell and advise on the full range of lending and investment vehicles with emphasis on consumer loans, mortgages, lines of credit, deposit and investment vehicles and various services actively soliciting growth membership opportunities and tracking staff referrals, sales initiatives and member inquiries
  • Work closely with Community First Insurance and Investments, Credential Asset Management Inc Advisor to provide the highest level of service in accordance with YNCU guidelines and policies
  • Other duties assigned by management


  • Must have a university degree or college degree, preferably in business, or equivalent work experience, as well as a minimum of three years of related experience in a financial institution
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, YNCU systems and job-related software
  • Knowledge of all YNCU products, services and banking system;
  • Proven communication, interpersonal, time management and customer service skills are required.
  • Willingness to work in a learning environment and ability to upgrade their training and skills to keep pace with changes in this role.
