Belize Registry of Companies and Business Affairs established under the Financial Services Commission

By Zoila Palma González: On Friday, July 29, 2022, the Financial Services Commission announced that effective today, pursuant to Section 284 of the Companies Act of Belize (Act No. 11 of 2022), the Companies Registry and Commercial Affairs of Belize (BCCAR) is established under the jurisdiction of the Financial Services Commission (FSC).
According to BCCAR, registry services previously provided separately by the national and international registries of commercial companies will now be provided by the combined BCCAR.
“The registry services merger is a key element in transforming and strengthening the business environment and improving the ease of doing business in Belize,” a statement from BCCAR said.
Other key elements of the transformation include the enactment of modern corporate legislation, the Belize Companies Act 2022 (Act No. 11 of 2022) and the launch of the Online Business Registry System (OBRS). ) which is expected to launch in the last quarter. of 2022 positioning Belize as a leading jurisdiction for company incorporation, business start-up and the best delivery of company registry services.
